New Square, New York, New Rules
Every once and a while my dear husband makes a voyage to see "his people". These would be other penguins, I mean chassidic people, who wear the same clothing, pray the same prayers and see creativity as not having a place in one's wardrobe. I have heard, though, that sameness creates a form of energy. That makes me feel a bit better. Anyway, each trip comes with something new that has been found. This trip came home with new dietary requirements, new serving requirments at the shabbat table and a request for more structure. I am wondering if too much structure is a bad thing or not. I suppose too much structure can be debilitating and make a person rigid. Some ridity is stabilizing, but too much can be stifling. Yet, I will take on these new rituals with peace, because in the end they actually (I hate to admit it....yuk, I hate when he's right!) are good for us. Being a tree-hugger, a little stability keeps me centered:)
